Preparation
- Wash and peel the Yukon Gold potatoes under running water.
- Cut the potatoes into equal-sized 1-inch chunks.
Cooking
- Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with water, about an inch above the potatoes.
- Add salt to taste and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- Add butter, salt, pepper, and optional herbs, mixing until well combined.
- Mash to your desired texture, whether smooth or slightly chunky.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Choose the right potato: Yukon Golds are best for a creamy texture. Don’t overmix, and add warm ingredients to maintain ideal texture.
