Crust and Crumble

  • 1/2 cup melted butter Or substitute with coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Makes everything taste better.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish (about 9x9 inches).
  2. In a bowl, gently toss the fresh cranberries with orange zest and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until crumbly.
  4. Take half of the crumble mixture and press it firmly into the baking dish.
  5. Spread the cranberry mixture evenly over the crumble base.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Let the bars cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

Use fresh cranberries for the best taste. Don't overmix the crumble. Allow the bars to cool for clean cuts. A pinch more orange zest can enhance the flavor.
