Preparation
- Heat a large skillet to medium/low heat.
- Add 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the skillet and let it melt.
- Whisk in the brown sugar, low sodium soy sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder until the mixture is smooth.
- Cook on medium heat for a few minutes until it starts to bubble.
- Stir in the drained green beans and toss them to combine with the sauce.
- Cook on medium/low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce will thicken as it cooks.
- Stir in the chopped bacon and cook for another 5 minutes on low.
- For a nice presentation, you can stir in half of the bacon and use the other half to garnish the top of the finished green beans.
Oven Preparation
- Follow the steps up to step 5, then cover the oven-safe skillet and place it in the oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes, stirring halfway through.
Notes
Serve hot as a side dish, pairs well with roasted meats or grilled chicken. Allowed to cool and stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
