Ingredients
  

Base

  • 2 slices sourdough bread or whole wheat bread
  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese low-fat or full-fat
  • 3 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp marinara sauce

Toppings

  • sliced bell peppers optional
  • fresh basil for garnish
  • red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tsp olive oil for brushing

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C).
  • Lightly brush both sides of the bread slices with olive oil and toast until golden and crisp.
  • Spread marinara sauce evenly over each slice.
  • In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning. Spread evenly on the bread slices.
  • Add optional toppings such as sliced bell peppers or red pepper flakes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is slightly golden and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.
