Base
  • 2 slices sourdough bread or whole wheat bread
  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese low-fat or full-fat
  • 3 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp marinara sauce
Toppings
  • sliced bell peppers optional
  • fresh basil for garnish
  • red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tsp olive oil for brushing

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. Lightly brush both sides of the bread slices with olive oil and toast until golden and crisp.
  3. Spread marinara sauce evenly over each slice.
  4. In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning. Spread evenly on the bread slices.
  5. Add optional toppings such as sliced bell peppers or red pepper flakes.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the cheese is slightly golden and bubbly.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil and serve immediately.
