Method
Preparation
- Lightly crush 4 to 6 whole cloves using a mortar and pestle or the back of a spoon.
- Slice 3 to 4 thin pieces of ginger or bruise them lightly with a spoon.
Brewing
- In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil.
- Add the crushed cloves, cinnamon stick, and ginger. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 8 to 10 minutes.

Finishing Touches
- Strain the tea into cups using a fine mesh strainer.
- Add honey or maple syrup to taste.
- Stir in lemon juice or add a lemon wedge. Be careful with the addition of milk.
- Optionally, add milk for creaminess.
- Taste and adjust with more honey, lemon, or steep longer for a stronger flavor.
Serving
- Serve hot, garnished with a cinnamon stick or lemon wedge if desired.
Notes
Store any leftover clove tea in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 48 hours. Reheat gently before serving.
