Cookie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Helps to balance sweetness.
Chocolate
  • 2 cups chocolate chips For extra chocolate flavor, consider adding additional chips.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and eggs to the mixture, and beat until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown.
  9. Let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about one week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe bag for up to three months. For softer cookies, take them out of the oven when they still look slightly underbaked.
