Ingredients
  

For the Apple Filling
  • 6 cups apples, peeled and sliced Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon smoked salt (optional) Increase for a stronger smoky flavor.
For the Crisp Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and smoked salt. Spread the apple mixture into a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Mix until crumbly.
  4. Spread the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the apples are bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  2. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it warm with ice cream!

Notes

To store leftovers, let the apple crisp cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave as needed.
