Ingredients
  

Meat and Base Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage You can use turkey, chicken, or ground pork as alternatives.
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups chicken or beef broth Vegetable broth can be used for a vegetarian version.
  • 2 cups water
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken into pieces Whole noodles can be used but will require longer cooking time.
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Cheeses and Garnish
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For serving.
  • Parmesan cheese for topping
  • Fresh basil for garnish Enhances flavor and presentation.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.
Cooking
  1. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, broth, water, broken lasagna noodles, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the noodles are cooked through.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the ricotta cheese until well combined.
Serving
  1. Serve hot, topped with shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese, and garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

For a vegetarian variation, use plant-based sausage and vegetable broth. Customize by adding vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
