  • 2 pounds beef fat (trimmed and cubed) Use fresh beef fat for best results.
  • Water Enough to cover the beef fat in the pot.

Preparation
  1. Cut the beef fat into small cubes.
  2. Place the fat into a large pot and cover it with water.
Cooking
  1. Heat the pot over low heat.
  2. Stir occasionally until the fat starts to melt.
  3. Once melted, strain the liquid through a cheesecloth into a jar.
  4. Allow it to cool and solidify.

Notes

Store the tallow in a cool, dark place or in the fridge to keep it fresh. It can last several months.
