Method
Mix Up the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Stir in the sugar, melted butter, salt, and egg until well combined. Gradually add flour until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it with a warm kitchen towel, and let it rise until doubled in size—about 1 hour.
Roll and Fill
- Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle. Mix together the cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle it generously over the dough.
Shape It
- Roll the dough tightly, starting from one of the shorter edges. Pinch the seams to seal it well and tuck the ends under. Place it in a greased loaf pan. Let it rise again for another 30 minutes.
Bake to Perfection
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
Let it Cool
- Allow it to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
Notes
For best results: Ensure your water is warm (around 110°F), knead well for gluten development, and monitor baking time closely. Flavor variations include adding nutmeg or dried fruits.
