Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast This is the magic that makes the bread rise.
  • 1 cup warm milk Activates the yeast, warm to touch but not hot.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Sweetens the dough.
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted Adds richness and flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Enhances sweetness and balances flavors.
  • 1 large egg Helps hold bread together and gives color.
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour Start with 3 1/2 cups and add more as needed.
Filling Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon The warm, sweet aroma that makes the bread cozy.
  • 1/4 cup sugar For sweet filling.
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional) Adds a delightful crunch, use walnuts or pecans if desired.

Method

Mix Up the Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Stir in the sugar, melted butter, salt, and egg until well combined. Gradually add flour until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
  1. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it with a warm kitchen towel, and let it rise until doubled in size—about 1 hour.
Roll and Fill
  1. Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle. Mix together the cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle it generously over the dough.
Shape It
  1. Roll the dough tightly, starting from one of the shorter edges. Pinch the seams to seal it well and tuck the ends under. Place it in a greased loaf pan. Let it rise again for another 30 minutes.
Bake to Perfection
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
Let it Cool
  1. Allow it to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results: Ensure your water is warm (around 110°F), knead well for gluten development, and monitor baking time closely. Flavor variations include adding nutmeg or dried fruits.
