Preparation
- Peel the bananas and slice them into uniform thin rounds—about 1/8 inch thick is ideal.
- Preheat your air fryer to 330°F (165°C) and lightly spray the basket with cooking spray or line it with perforated parchment.
- In a small bowl, combine the coconut or brown sugar with the cinnamon and set aside.
- Place the banana slices in a mixing bowl and gently toss with the cinnamon-sugar mixture until lightly coated.
Cooking
- Lay the banana slices in a single layer in your air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap.
- Air fry for 10–14 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- The chips are ready when golden brown and crisp at the edges. Some may need an extra 2–3 minutes depending on thickness and air fryer model.
- Let the chips cool on a wire rack for 5–10 minutes to crisp up further.
Notes
Store leftover banana chips in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days. For longer storage, refrigerate, but note they may lose their crispiness. Slicing bananas evenly ensures consistent cooking. Consider adding a pinch of sea salt to enhance sweetness. Experiment with spices like nutmeg or ginger for a twist.
