Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well-mixed.
- Add in the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water. Your batter will be thin, which is expected.
Baking
- Pour the batter directly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Frosting
- Once cooled, frost the cakes with your favorite chocolate frosting.
