Base Ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten 1 large egg adds moisture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour.
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder Can substitute with carob powder if needed.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Can use dark chocolate chips for richer flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir in the melted butter.
  3. Mix in the baking soda and salt.
  4. Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  5. Finally, stir in the flour and cocoa powder until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Let the bread cool completely before slicing to prevent it from being gummy. It can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature, possibly with butter or cream cheese.
