Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce for marinade
  • 1 tsp cornstarch for marinade
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
Sauce
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with water
  • 1/4 cup water or beef broth
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for stir-frying

Equipment

  • Large Skillet or Wok
  • Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Slice beef thinly and toss with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Set aside to marinate while prepping other ingredients.
  2. Whisk together sauce ingredients: soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, cornstarch mixed with water, and broth.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet or wok over high heat. Sear beef in a single layer for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add broccoli to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. Add a splash of water or broth, cover, and steam until tender-crisp.
  5. Return beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and stir until everything is coated and sauce is thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

Notes

To make it gluten-free, use tamari and gluten-free oyster sauce. Customize with other veggies or add heat with red pepper flakes.
