Ingredients
  

For the Chicken Marinade

  • 1 tsp cumin A toasty, earthy flavor that deepens the dish.
  • 1 tsp paprika Adds a gentle smokiness and a beautiful red color.
  • 1 tsp turmeric Gives a delightful earthy essence.
  • 1 tsp coriander Works harmoniously with the other spices.
  • to taste salt Enhances all those rich flavors.
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp oil To sauté the onions.
  • 1 onion chopped The foundation of flavor.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Infuses the dish with a fragrant kick.
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated Adds warmth and a touch of peppery zing.
  • 1 can tomato sauce, 15 oz Base of the sauce that adds sweetness and depth.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Makes the sauce indulgently creamy.
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish Adds a lovely pop of color.

Method
 

Marinate the Chicken
  1. In a bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, and salt.
  2. Add cubed chicken and let marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for the best flavor.
Sauté the Aromatics
  1. In a large pan over medium heat, heat oil and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
Add Garlic and Ginger
  1. Add minced garlic and grated ginger; cook for an additional minute.
Cook the Chicken
  1. Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook until browned and no longer pink.
Simmer the Sauce
  1. Pour in the tomato sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes.
Stir in the Cream
  1. Stir in the heavy cream and heat through until well combined.
Garnish and Serve
  1. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with warm naan or rice.

Notes

Marinate longer for deeper flavors. Adjust spices for your desired spice level. Using fresh garlic and ginger makes a significant difference in flavor. Don't hesitate to add veggies like bell peppers for added nutrition and color.
