Ingredients
  

For the Chicken
  • 2 pounds chicken thighs or breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the Garlic Sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon tahini (optional) Find tahini in Middle Eastern grocery stores or larger supermarkets.
For Serving
  • Pita bread or rice For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the chicken and coat it well with the mixture. Marinate for at least 1 hour, ideally overnight.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your grill or oven to 400°F (200°C). If using a grill, grease the grates.
  2. Cook the marinated chicken for 20-25 minutes until fully cooked, with an internal temperature of at least 165°F (75°C).
Making Garlic Sauce
  1. Mix minced garlic, yogurt, lemon juice, tahini (if using), and salt in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
Serving
  1. Once the chicken is cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing into strips.
  2. Serve the chicken in warm pita bread or over rice, spooning garlic sauce on top.

Notes

For leftovers, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven for optimal texture.
