Ingredients
  

For the Cherry Limeade
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 2 cups water Use still or sparkling water, based on preference.
  • 1/2 cup lime juice (about 4-5 limes) Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 8 Maraschino cherries Can substitute with fresh cherries, pitted and sliced.
  • few tablespoons juice from the jar Adds extra cherry flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Put sugar and water into a saucepan over medium heat. Warm until all of the sugar is dissolved, then remove from heat and allow to cool.
  2. Juice the limes.
  3. Fill a half-gallon pitcher about half full with ice.
  4. Add the sugar water and lime juice to the pitcher.
  5. Toss in a few Maraschino cherries and a few tablespoons of juice from the jar.
  6. Add water to taste and enjoy.
Serving
  1. Pour the Cherry Limeade over ice in glasses. Garnish with extra cherries or lime slices.
Storage
  1. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to a week in a sealed pitcher or container.
  2. Stir well before serving if it has been sitting for a while.

Notes

Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar. For a fizzy version, use sparkling water instead of still water when serving. Adding fresh mint leaves can enhance the flavor.
