Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Generously grease your baking dish with butter.
- Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the sliced onions over the potatoes.
- Add half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the onions.
- Pour half of the heavy cream over the layers.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes, onions, cheese, and cream.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste over the top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
Baking
- Place the dish in the oven and bake for 45 minutes.
- After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
Serving
- Let the dish cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Can be prepared a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator. Leftovers can be turned into a breakfast hash.
