Cheesecake Layer
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened The star of the cheesecake layer.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Sweetens the cream cheese.
  • 1 egg for cheesecake Helps the layer set.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a square baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add your eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Making the Batter
  1. Gradually fold in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
Layering and Baking
  1. Pour half of the brownie batter into your prepared pan.
  2. Add dollops of the cheesecake mixture on top and swirl gently with a knife.
  3. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the cheesecake layer and smooth it out.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let cool before cutting into squares.

To achieve clean cuts, ensure the squares cool completely before slicing. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
