- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, toss together the cubed butternut squash and sliced apples.
- Sprinkle in the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well to coat every piece.
- Transfer the mixture into a baking dish evenly.
- Dot the top with bits of butter and sprinkle with chopped pecans if using.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Serve warm for the best experience.
Notes
You can prep the squash and apples a day ahead. Store in an airtight container. This dish lasts 3-4 days in the fridge. For freezing, let it cool, then store in an airtight container for 2-3 months.
