Ingredients
  

For the Strawberry Syrup
  • 8 oz fresh strawberries, hulled and washed Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup sugar Adjust to taste for sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup water
For the Sangria
  • 750 ml chilled pink moscato or any rosé Chill the wine ahead of time.
  • 1/2 cup limoncello
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries or fresh
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 handful mint leaves, washed
  • 1 unit lemon, thinly sliced

Method
 

Preparation of Strawberry Syrup
  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the fresh strawberries, sugar, and water.
  2. Stir occasionally while bringing the mixture to a boil until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Remove from heat, cover, and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
  4. After cooling, press the syrup through a mesh sieve in small batches and discard the pulp and seeds.
Making the Sangria
  1. In a large pitcher, combine 1/4 cup of the strawberry syrup with the chilled moscato, limoncello, mixed berries, mint leaves, and lemon slices.
Serving
  1. Pour the sangria into ice-filled stemware, making sure to scoop some fruit into each glass.
  2. Garnish with a strawberry slotted onto the edge of the glass.

Notes

Berry Sangria is best served cold. For a non-alcoholic version, replace the wine and limoncello with sparkling water or fruit juice blend. Store any leftovers in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator, best if consumed within one day.
