  • 1.5 cups mashed bananas (approx. 3 bananas) Make sure the bananas are ripe for the best flavor.
  • 0.5 cup nut butter Use sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option.
  • 2 cups rolled oats Ensure the oats are certified gluten-free for gluten-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup Use as a sweetener.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Feel free to adjust the amount based on preference.
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the mashed bananas, nut butter, rolled oats, cinnamon, vanilla extract, maple syrup, chocolate chips, and salt.
  3. Transfer the mixture to the lined baking pan and flatten it into a flat, even layer.
  4. Sprinkle more chocolate chips on top if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until the edges are golden and the bars appear to be set.
  2. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Bars can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Add nuts, dried fruits, or seeds for extra texture and nutrition.
