Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Let them sit at room temperature for easier mashing.
  • 1 cup rolled oats Can use certified gluten-free rolled oats.
  • 1/2 cup almond milk Can substitute with any milk of choice.
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Use maple syrup for a vegan option.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Add more for a spicier flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup nuts or chocolate chips Optional; for a nut-free version, use seeds.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish (8x8 inch square dish works well).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the mashed bananas, rolled oats, almond milk, honey (or maple syrup), cinnamon, and salt until well combined (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. If using nuts or chocolate chips, gently fold them into the mixture.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly, ensuring the corners are filled.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bars are set and lightly golden brown (look for a firm, slightly springy texture).
  2. Allow the bars to cool for a few minutes before cutting them into squares and enjoying.
