  • 1 round Brie cheese Look for one that is creamy and ripe; double-cream version is even better.
  • 1/2 cup fig jam Raspberry jam can be used as an alternative.
  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts (chopped) A mix of walnuts, pecans, and almonds is recommended.
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (optional) Provides a flaky crust.
  • 1 egg for egg wash (optional) To give the pastry a golden glaze.
  • to taste Fresh herbs Such as thyme or rosemary for garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If using puff pastry, roll it out until it's about 1/8 inch thick and place the Brie in the center.
  3. Spoon fig jam generously on top of the Brie.
  4. Sprinkle the mixed nuts over the fig jam.
  5. Fold the edges of the puff pastry around the Brie and brush with the beaten egg if using.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is oozing.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving with crackers or baguette slices.
Garnishing
  1. Sprinkle fresh herbs on top before serving for added flavor and presentation.

Notes

Use room temperature Brie for easier melting. You can experiment with different jams and nuts based on your preference.
