- In a large saucepan, combine the red wine, sugar, orange slices, lemon slices, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
- Heat gently over medium heat until it is just below a simmer, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar. Do not let it boil.
- Once it's warm and fragrant, remove from heat and stir in brandy if using.
- Serve warm in mugs with slices of orange for garnish.
Notes
Enjoy warm, garnished with a slice of orange or a cinnamon stick. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently, avoiding boiling.
