Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great) Choose sweeter apples for the best flavor.
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk Use any milk of your choice.
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Add more for extra flavor.
  • as needed Nonstick cooking spray To help crisp the fries.

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel (optional) and cut the apples into fry-like sticks. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Set up coating stations: In Bowl 1, add flour. In Bowl 2, whisk egg and milk together. In Bowl 3, mix panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.
Coating and Cooking
  1. Dredge each apple stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then coat well with the breadcrumb mixture.
  2. Lightly spray coated apple fries with nonstick spray. Place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
  3. Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Serving
  1. Enjoy warm with caramel dip, yogurt, or whipped cream.

Notes

Pat the apple sticks dry before coating to help the breading stick better. You can experiment with different apples for varied flavors. Don't overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if needed.
